1.Purchase or sign up for the affiliate marketing product.
No matter whether you’re going promote an ebook or a recurring commission membership site, it’s very important that you invest in the product yourself. Buying the product will not only make your review more insightful, but it will make you more trustworthy.
The vast majority of people who write affiliate product reviews try to piece together information from what is already available online. This leads to a bunch of shallow reviews out there that don’t offer the market a lot to work with. Buy the product so you can figure out what to write about.
2.Pick three main points that you loved about the product.
After your evaluation of the product itself, you should think of the three main points that made the most sense, offered the biggest insights or had the largest impact on you when you were reading through the material.
What makes the product unique?
What will people get out of purchasing it?
Write down your three points based on your personal impressions.
Don’t just go by what the sales letter says.
3.Frame the points in terms of benefits and not features.
Your review will have more impact for the reader if you tell them exactly what is in it for them from buying the product.
For example, if one of your main points from the last step is that the product offers a support forum – don’t just write “It has a forum.”
Draw out the benefits from that feature. What about having a support forum makes the product great?
People can connect and motivate each other. The buyer can get ongoing support. The buyer can ask questions of their peers.
These are three benefits that tell the buyer what is in it for them.
4.Offer one piece of criticism.
The best affiliate marketing reviews point out one area where the product creator could have done a better job.
Even the best product is not perfect, and you can find one small area where the creator has missed the mark. By pointing out one downfall of the product your review looks more fair and balanced, and you’ll gain the trust of the reader.
5.Disclose your affiliate relationship.
Disclosing your affiliate relationship will not only increase trust with your target market, but it keeps you a legal affiliate in some countries.
Recent rules have passed in the United States and United Kingdom that carry heavy fines for hiding your affiliate relationship.
You can do this by simply mentioning at the end of the review that you’ll be paid a small commission if they decide to buy, but that the product is so good you’d recommend it anyway.
